It is without a doubt that would be employers are very concerned when they are confronted with job applicants who have obtained their qualifications online. This is however beginning to gradually change, as a large number of employers are realizing that an applicant who has obtained a degree online, from an accredited and reputable university which has an established track record of performance is credible.
Employers are being forced to realize that online education does have its benefits. This is due to an ever increasing number of people who enroll for online education courses each year, and gain professional qualifications.
Europe and the US, has seen a significant rise in online education facilities in the past few years, which proves that e-learning has achieved an increasing popularity. This increase in popularity has been so huge that now, many of the most reputed educational institutes in Europe and North America have begun to offer online courses to their students.
There has been much research carried out which indicates that technology driven industries such as media, communication, and marketing companies, have started to quite willingly accept applicants who have worked hard to secure a professional degree from accredited universities, who offer online education. These are just a few industries that are showing that they understand the advantages and benefits of learning online.
Be prepared for the interview
Below you will find some tips that anyone who holds an online degree may find useful, these can be used for helping to prepare yourself for an interview with a prospective employer, this is of course in case your prospective employer fails to grasp how credible and beneficial your online qualification is.
*Firstly you must insist on taking a test which will give the employer a means of evaluating any talent you have in the field and which will show that you have gained a significant knowledge of the industry you wish to work in.
*You must use your communication skills in such a way that the employer can see that you have an understanding of time management, that you are self-disciplined, and that you are self-motivated, and that you have gained these skills by way of your online education.
*Emphasize the importance you place on team work and networking.
Show the employer through your body language and assignments about how much you have actually benefited from regular online interactions with your tutors and fellow-students, and the online learning experience as a whole.
*You must boldly illustrate to the employer your debating skills, this should remove any doubts he or she has that anyone who hold an online degree would be lacking in oral communication skills.
*Lay out in front of your prospective employer any samples you have of your assignments, this will give the employer an understanding of the importance of an online degree program.
*It is very important that you produce transcripts and also a letter of recommendation which you should have obtained from your tutors, who of course will be reputable, as they taught you through an accredited and established online education facility.
*It is a must that you bring to the interview any and all certificates that prove that the facility, where you gained your qualification, is an authentic and accredited one, and also that the courses which it offers are certified.
*If at all possible, produce research material which highlights the importance of an online education, shows the various benefits they give, and show how an online education is just as good as conventional education. Put all of this across correctly and you should be able to convince the employer that you took your course work very seriously after studying the advantages and disadvantages very thoroughly.
Being fully prepared for your interview and having all of this information to hand, you will be seen by the employer as being just as well qualified if not more so, as anyone who has gained the same qualification by conventional means.
